3. PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

3.1 Exposure Standards

An exposure standard has not been established for this product. However, the following is recommended for nuisance dusts : Dusts not otherwise classified : TWA 10 mg/m3

3.2 Engineering Controls

Ensure adequate ventilation to maintain exposure levels below standards, including the use of local exhaust or process enclosure.

3.3 Personal Protection

Wear protective glasses in dusty environments. The precautionary measures normally applied when handling chemicals are to be observed. Avoid inhalation of dust. Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling and before work breaks, eating, drinking, smoking and using toilet facilities.

3.4 Flammability

Not flammable under conditions of use, however, assists combustion and may cause other materials to burn or explode.

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION

4.1 Storage / Transport

This product is not classified as dangerous goods under the provisions of the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail. 4.3 Spills and Disposal

Spills

Clean up personnel should wear protective glasses and approved dust mask. Avoid raising dusts.

Flush small spills away with plenty of water. Sweep up large spills together with dust binding agent or use a vacuum cleaner. Place waste in drums and hold for waste disposal.

Disposal

Dispose of waste by landfill in accordance with all Local, State and Federal regulations at an approved waste disposal facility.

4.4 FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD

Fire / Explosion

Very low risk of dust explosions. Negligible fire hazard when exposed to heat or flame. Material can be decomposed by water, direct sources of heat, catalysts etc. Decomposition is accompanied by the oxygen and heat which can support combustion and cause pressure bursts in confined spaces. Decomposition in the presence of organic material can be rapid and highly exothermic. Material is very stable. May ignite other ocmbustible materials. Avoid contact with incompatible materials such as heavy metals, reducing agents, acids, bases, combustibles (wood, papers, cloths etc.) Thermal decomposition releases oxygen and heat. Material dissociates into sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solution, and dissociated hydrogen peroxide decomposes into water and free oxygen.

Extinguishing Media

Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. In case of fire use water only. DO NOT use dry chemical, carbon dioxide or halon type extinguishers. Use enough water because decomposition is accelerating. Move containers from fire area if you can do so without risk.
